System can't take more than 5k req /sec

We did some load-testing recently after a French tv special took us down :( ,
and we found that cache misses are *vastly* more expensive, resource-wise, than
cache hits.  I don't recall the numbers, but if I were you I'd focus on upping
the hit rate as much as possible.
