Yes and no... it confirms a varnish repository is installed, but not which one (el5 or el6?)...
If you found only "varnish-release", it means varnish (the application) is not installed.
The "yum install varnish" from the howto did not work.
That's why you cannot find the files in etc...
Remove the varnish repository:
# rpm -e varnish-release
Install the correct one:
# rpm --nosignature -i http://repo.varnish-cache.org/redhat/varnish-3.0/el6/noarch/varnish-release/varnish-release-3.0-1.el6.noarch.rpm
Install the varnish application:
# yum install varnish
