Comment:

 I couldn't get your patch to apply so I stared a bit at it and found a
 less intrusive way to do it.

 I've maked the pass method optional, so that we do not need to duplicate
 the vca_pipe handling in the three existing acceptors.

 Reopen this ticket if that doesn't work for you.
