#329: Increase cli_timeout
-------------------------+--------------------------------------------------

 Priority: lowest | Milestone:
Component: varnishd | Version: trunk
 Severity: trivial | Resolution:
 Keywords: cli_timeout |

Comment (by phk):

The cli_timeout acts a check to see if the worker thread is still alive.

The intention behind the relatively short timeout, is to be able to kill
and restart the worker process in "a few seconds".

As such the only downside to increasing it, is to make for a longer
 outage, if the process croaks.

You are not the only one to see evidence of timeouts, mostly due to
kernel/disk activity, so I think increasing a bit is called for.

 Now to define "a bit".

I would say that 10 seconds is too long (given the usual web-users
 patience).

The question is if 5 seconds is long enough to avoid false shootdowns.

Input from the real world would be much appreciated.
