Comment:

 I have retested as recommended  and the result is that on linux 2.6.28
 debian lenny it doesnt work as supposed, connection is always cut off
 after send_timeout;

 the strange thing is that when I run the wget test straight from proxy,
 then the connection lives after send_timeout, but when i run that test
 from any machine (localnet/internet) then after send_timeout the
 connection is always cut off.
