 Thank you for the reply.

 I was a bit supprised it used 1.5GB while the storage is file based. The
 reason i uponed up this ticket was because varnish used 5.8GB shared mem,
 while the storage was 2G malloc. The instance from yesterday is a
 different one. But if varnish itself uses a lot shared memory for
 stack/thread allocations, it is explainable why it uses so much (its not
 the malloc who is using so much memory, but rather varnish itself).

 ulimit is a option to use, although i think its a dirty one.

 Its nice to hear varnish is capable of dealing with much more traffic.
