 I've seen this too on a relative low traffic site (<1000 visits/day).

 version:  varnish 2.1.0-2
 OS: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS

 This was marked worksforme 9 months ago, please check if the varnish
 version I see this bug in is later, and if so consider reopening this bug.
