Comment:

 First off, check your timeout parameters if you have pages that take 20
 seconds to render, you will need to increase some of them.

 Second, as far as I can see from your varnishlog, it does indeed go to
 vcl-error, which returns a "restart".

 It doesn't look like there are any bugs to me...
