 Victor, thank you for your feedback.

 I am a bit resistant to accept that the TCP_linger issues have anything to
 do with the port acceptor, as I am not using the former and don't see any
 issues.

 Please do also note that phk has committed a change to remove lingering
 for the time being: [4605]

 The performance improvement of ports can be quite significant, I've seen a
 25% drop in CPU usage on a heavily loaded site.
