Comment:

I can now confirm that Varnish does definitely not support HTML5
 Websockets.
I have tested pywebsocket (http://code.google.com/p/pywebsocket/) using
 Varnish
as a proxy, and it doesn't work, reporting "Header Upgrade is not
 defined".

I would really like to see support for HTML5 Websockets in Varnish. This
 is a feature
which will be more and more common, when Firefox 4, Safari and Google
 Chrome all support Websockets.

This is the error message reported by pywebsocket:

ERROR:mod_pywebsocket.handshake:Handshake error: Header Upgrade is not
 defined
 [2010-10-02 14:10:19,698] [ERROR] mod_pywebsocket.handshake: Handshake
error: Header Upgrade is not defined
