 I'm having a bit of a hard time trying to understand the issue.

 Yo've got two pages, a.ehtml and b.html, the VCL you provide sets content-
 type manually, then starts esi-parsing for *.ehtml. At which point b.html
 is included. But then it sounds like you're saying a.html isn't refreshed,
 but....

 All in all, this seems more like a configuration/VCL/esi-issue than an
 actual bug.

 I recommend sending a mail to varnish-misc (see http://www.varnish-
 cache.org/lists/mailman/listinfo/varnish-misc/ ) and explaining it in
 detail. The added benefit is that you get a much larger audience.

 For now I'll close this ticket, but feel free to re-open it _after_ you've
 tried the mail list and the consensus seems to be that it is a bug.
