 This may be the same issue as #952.

 My .vlc file has no directives at all.

 In other words, no caching.

 Many times ab simply hangs an netstat returns no connections.

 Other times many connections are in TIME_WAIT state.

 Hitting apache directly works fine. Only Varnish seems to hang.
