Comment:

 I'm closing this, as it's not really a Varnish-bug at this point, and it's
 only relevant for an old-ish distribution and not easily reproduced.

 If further work on this is required, it should probably either go through
 the varnish-dev-list (with patches) and/or to jemalloc.

 On the up-side, this bug-report might serve as a record for others who
 potentially run into the same problem.
