 willthames: the bug you're responding to is something else and does not
 cause a segfault, just an error:

 With 3.0.1:
 > ~/varnish/bin/varnishncsa/varnishncsa -n /tmp/_v1  -F
 '%{Varnish:handling}x'
 Unknown format starting at: %{Varnish:handling}x

 Since I don't get a response from the original submitter, I'm closing this
 bug.
