 I'm not going to bother as long as OSX is a Tier-B platform (see:
 https://www.varnish-cache.org/docs/trunk/phk/platforms.html)

 I want OSX to work well enough that people can work with the source code
 on their macbooks, but as far as I am informed, OSX is not a relevant
 operating system for production use of Varnish, so optimizations like the
 one you suggest is overkill.
