 I think the problem in both this and #1209 is that -j8 is too much for
 your machine.

 The parallelism of Varnishtests is limited not so much by CPUs or cores,
 but by the disk-I/O subsystem in creating shared memory and other tasks.

 I suggest you don't automatically set -j to #cpu, but rather to a credible
 low constant such as 2-4
