 I have attached a vtc exposing the issue.

 Side note: it took me some time to spot the fact that this really is the
 right trigger tue to `sigsegv_handler=on` beging set by `varnishtest` by
 default - which, in this case, hides the panic for reasons which I have
 not yet understood.
