 Sorry about the delay in replying...

 This is related to some new work I've been doing, to put a "waiter" on the
 unused backend connections.  It is not related to the storage changes.

 I will try to track this down.

 Any chance you can capture a varnishlog output for me ?  (Preferably
 "varnislog -g raw")
