 I can confirm that the new version of the VTC successfully reproduces the
 crash, and that the patch of March 6th resolves it, for both the test case
 and for our installation in the test environment.

 Since the problem is not present in master, I suggest that the patch be
 applied to the next version in 4.x -- 4.0.4 if there is such a thing, or
 else 4.1.
