 Hi,

I want to ask you can I configure varnish proxy server to
work in different way - I want to integrate varnish as transparent proxy. Is it
possible to disable the caching and to force varnish to ask a script
(written in Perl) can packet from external network can pass, checking
it's IP address in LDAP server. See that web page

http://www.stress-free.co.nz/transparent_squid_authentication_to_edirectory

My
idea is to create a powerful transparent firewall with varnish + snort
and etc. capable to hold gigabits of traffic and million connection to
protect large server farm in huge datacenter. I want to ask you two
questions:

1.
Can varnish use that script(shown above in web
page) to ask LDAP server for passing packet from external network to
internal network like the example with squid. I suppose that it will be
more fast if I rewrite the perl script in C++ and directly paste it
into the VCL rules.

2
 Can varnish
hold gigabits traffic and millions connections? I don't need caching
function in my case, I need very fast proxy server.

Regards
