The "Varnish" web-accellerator

"How to be 10 times faster without really trying".

VG sponsored the development of a web-accellerator called
"Varnish" because Squid was too slow for them.
The first half of the talk will introduce Varnish and present
some of the novel features it brings to the business of
web-serving.
The second half of the talk, using Varnish as the example,
will show ways to get most performance out of modern hardware
and operating systems.

Poul-Henning Kamp has been mucking about with computers
long enough to become an old fart. When he doesn't renovate
the FreeBSD kernel, he solves problems for customers at
reasonable hourly rates.
