varnishncsa logs null size and status

I took a look at the sources which led me to looking at the  
varnishlog output for the same requests.  The requests in question  
produce no 'Length' or 'TxStatus' logs (or any 'Tx...' logs for that  
matter).

Some other relevant info, I'm running 1.1.1 and these requests are  
being piped.
