Proposed patch to fix #972

Find attached patch to fix bug #972.

This disables 304's when we are doing streaming, as we are already commited
to stream the object when we get there.

I guess this is an interim solution, as we would be able to do real 304s
also when streaming when the final streaming bits are in place.

Any comments appreciated.
