Ok, I should have read the new default.vcl...this is often a quick course of the new syntax...
Thanks for the answer. Is there a risk in enabling them ?

See default.vcl. If you want obj.hits to increment, you must do it yourself in VCL.
This was changed to make objects "read-only" in memory by default.
