Yes, this one doesn't make sense any longer in 4.1, a backend can only
belong to one VCL (I'm working on documenting that).

It could be replaced by VBT counters to get stats on the TCP pools.
The VBE ones you are referring to could look like:

VBT.(ipv4,ipv6).backends

There might be interesting stats on pools worth adding.
