In my experience it's better if you're able to let Varnish trust the
max-age specified by the backends.

Otherwise, as time goes by, you will have so many rules in your VCLs
that you will make it hard to understand.

Most web servers allow you to configure cache headers based on the
content type; I suggest you try that approach before hacking your
Varnish configuration.

how/where can I define a cache (max-age) in default.vcl ?
I have few PDF files that being cached and 2 weeks seems a bit much in
my opinion, I'd like to change that.
