varnishreplay question

Hi all,

I try to use varnishreplay for the first time.

What I did is the following:
- run varnishlog without any parameters and produce some quite big 
logfile on a production varnish
- copy the log file (from varnishlog) from production to a testing 
machine (running varnish of course)
- fiddle around with vcl to direct traffic to some standby backends
- call varnishreplay 'varnishreplay -D -a localhost:80 -r <logfile>'

Unfortunately a varnishstat on this testing machine does not show me any 
activity and my only output on console is:

Ehm, varnish on production machine is 2.1.3, on testing platform is 2.1.5.

Well - I'm doing it wrong - I know... but, how to do it correctly?
Any idea or hint? Thanks!
