Unless there is a larger hue and cry among users for a new default, I
don't yet see compelling reasons to introduce an incompatible change,
especially since typing "-g request" isn't really that demanding.

Kristian wrote that he can't imagine preferring -g vxid, which is
fine, but I for one am much happier with that default. The different
preferences might be due to differences between the sites we run -- in
my case, the developers love ESI includes, so a single original
request with -g request can easily produce dozens of subrequests and
backend requests. Sometimes that's the view of the log that helps, but
most of the time it's too much information, and the VXID grouping
better focuses what I need to see. Since we've managed to teach
developers to make a note of the XID (well some of them), I can often
jump right to the right place.

Those are two anecdotes, which of course do not constitute data. If we
can determine that most people like -g request better, I'm willing to
go with the flow and take on the burden of typing "-g vxid". But we
should find that out, rather than assuming that -g request is always
the obviously better choice -- for me at least, it isn't.

Best,
Geoff
