Any one can help me to run varnish on Linux (Redhat Enterprise)?

I had installed Varnish in My Redhat Enterprise Workstation, it's
working But can't operate as proxy server.

My network is 192.168.0.0/24

I issued such command from terminal:
#varnishd -a "192.168.0.1"/8000 (avail varnish to my network)
#varnishd -b "192.168.0.1"/3128 (pointed to my squid server)

What mistake  I make ?
What change I have to made ?
How can I define and load my own vcl ?
