 I'm having a similar issue, in this case the configuration uses a 4GB
 Malloc, and typically sits at around 960MB in memory, a normal GET to a
 html page resulted in this error.

 varnish-2.0.6-2.el5
 varnish-libs-2.0.6-2.el5

 rpm's are in use.
